John 11:25: Jesus said to her [Martha], “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”

For Resurrection Sunday, enjoy the most famous chorus in Handel’s Messiah, the Hallelujah Chorus.

This chorus was written to celebrate God’s ultimate victory.  Jesus claimed victory over death at the Resurrection!

The lyrics to Handel’s Hallelujah chorus might be difficult to understand, but are written entirely in English and are actually Scripture verses repeated throughout the entire piece.

George Frideric Handel (1685-1759) was a German-born composer who spent most of his life in England.  He wrote many famous pieces during the late Baroque period.

**3rd – 7th Graders, would you expect a typical example of Baroque music to be elaborate and complex or plain and simple?  Let me know what you think in your comment section below, and feel free to listen to the video of the Hallelujah Chorus first to help answer the question.
